KUTA REEF

Kuta Reef is located about 800 mtrs offshore, infront of the Sandi Phala Motel. The best way to get out there is by paying one of the local boat operators a few dollars to run you out and then to come and pick you back up when your finished having fun.

Wet/Dry Season - Dry Season - April/October
Best Swell Direction- South
Best Size - 4-5ft is the optimum size on the mid to high tide
Best Winds - SE Tradewinds

Crowd Factor
Due to Kuta Reefs central location it can get very crowded, sometimes up 60 surfers in the water. But, there are all types of different levels of surfer, so there's always a few waves to be had. Kuta Reef, when the conditions are right is a world class lefthander! With waves winding out for up to 200 mtrs and a couple of good hollow barrel sections as well.

This surfing spot offers the excellent lefthander which walls up, peaks, and thunders along your way to get closer inside. If you wish to get out safely and comfortably, you only need to hire a local canoe driver. As what have been experienced by the students of Odysseys Bali Surf School  , there are two take-off points way out there. The strong southeast trade winds blast this spot and along the low tides the inside section is not easy to create. The best timing is at mid or high tide, ensuring you to handle up to six feet or even double.

Kuta Reef feels uncomfortable due to its crowded waves. You must compete with the others wave riders who live near Kuta area to get a maximum surfing time. After acquiring the Odysseys Bali Surf Lessons, our students then usually go further down south to Kuta Reef. At that time, they tried the greatest Kuta area challenge, as the way to enhance their surfing improvement. Once they go even further to the south side of Kuta, they will see the other two surfing sites called Airport rights and Airport Lefts.
